The problem

Most people only look for a receipt when something breaks, and by then it's lost or the warranty has expired. Return windows close quietly. The information exists; nobody is watching the dates.

Decisions

One job: store the receipt and warn before the deadline. Features that didn't serve that were cut.

The reminders are the product. A receipt vault that never tells you anything is just another folder.
